At Last – A High Power Single Mode Violet Diode

The Optoelectronics Company is delighted to announce that USHIO OPTO has developed a new range of 405nm blue-violet laser diodes specifically aimed at direct imaging applications, also ideal for industrial, biomedical and medical uses.

The outstanding diode in the range is a single transverse mode 405nm laser diode which offers 300mW optical output power in a 5.6mm package. This is the USHIO HL40071MG with typical optical and electrical characteristics, (Tc=25 degrees C, cw), of 50mA threshold current, operating current of 280mA, operating voltage 6V, 6 degrees beam divergence parallel to the junction, 15 degrees beam divergence perpendicular to the junction, laser diode reverse voltage of 2V and operating temperature of 0 to +70 degrees C.

The other new diodes are multimode with TE mode oscillation, blue-violet lasing wavelength of 405nm and very high optical output power of 600mW in a 5.6mm package. They are the USHIO HL40063MG and the HL40065MG.

Both the USHIO HL40063MG and the HL40065MG laser diodes share the same typical optical and electrical characteristics, (Tc=25 degrees C), with a lasing wavelength of 405nm and optical output power of 600mW CW, LD reverse voltage 5V, PD reverse voltage 20V, operating temperature 0 to +30 degrees C, 140mA threshold current, 600mA operating current, 4.2V operating voltage, 13 degrees beam divergence parallel to the junction and 42 degrees beam divergence perpendicular to the junction. The only difference is that the HL40065MG has a built-in monitor PD and monitor current of 2mA typical.] All these new blue-violet laser diodes are currently in full production to meet rising customer demand.
