Physics of Frequency Modulated Comb Generation in Semiconductor Diode Lasers

We investigate the nonlinear gain responsible for the generation of frequency modulated combs in semiconductor diode lasers, distilling the essential physics necessary for comb generation in quantum well, quantum dot, and quantum cascade systems.
