The Research and Development on the Efficient and Small Size System of Laser Diode Driver open site

This paper shows a program of driver of semiconductor laser for portable and stability. It is suitable for car, man-portable, battery-powered and so on. The whole study has been made from Basic principles to Engineering practice. It made a laser driver of small size and high efficiency. This kind of laser driver will be benefit to our military, Medical, scientific and other fields. First, from the Basic principles of semiconductor laser, an alternative model is developed for the convenience of drive power. This is of universal universal significance and practical value of the works. Subsequently three power supply drive solutions are presented based on the principle of switching power supply. The problem of output stability on the conditions of high current and power is solved by using the idea of voltage and current double closed loop control and the structure of dual-controller in parallel. The target parameters of laser driver have been systematically tested according to the application of laser. The PCB layout program is optimized by practice at the view of Engineering. The methods of reduce size and improve efficiency are presented. Thermal design is given by using the tool of ANSYS software on the guide of Finite element analysis theory.Finally, a compact high-power semiconductor laser current source is developed which can output 10A and 12V with wide input voltage range of 18V to 35V and adaptive voltage at the load. Not only it can maintain the ripple rate lower than 4% when it works at power of 120W, but also can keep the efficiency higher 85% when it works at 18V input. The power system, with its good thermal performance, is truly small and high efficiency in high-power and harsh environments applications. Through theoretical thermal design, the power system temperature increase only 30℃at this small size.
